Atl-1 satellite test

► ATL-1 satellite has received the space qualification on the basic of thermo-vacuum and vibration tests. The weight loss is less than 1 m/m% in both cases, which is the requirement for the lunch. The lunch of ATL-1 satellite was carried out by Rocket Lab Space Company, USA . Our three thermal insulation materials could be placed around 3 accumulators in the satellite, the fourth accumulator was insulated by Kapton foil as standard insulation material. During the mission, the temperature was measured by thermocouples on five different sides of the batteries. The Al2O3 fibers and composite layers indicated smaller (19-20 and 15-18 %) temperature fluctuation than Kapton foil. During the long-term application, the fibers generated 20 % smaller temperature maximum values and 20-60 % higher minimum temperature values, than foil. The filling ability of accumulators in space can be held 30-40 % longer with Al2O3 fiber and composite insulation layers than with Kapton foil.

► The project of satellite test has been performed by direction and coordination of ATL (Advanced Technology of Laser Zrt, András Nagy). The industrial technology of thermal insulation materials has been developed by H-ION Kft (László Gencsi, Ottó Temesi). The planning and construction of satellite have been realized together by ATL, H-ION, and Budapest University of Technology and Economics, GND research group (András Gschwindt, Levente Dudás).
